Free Arabic Alphabet Coloring Pages
Twenty eight coloring pages, one for every letter of the Arabic alphabet. Each sheet has the letter in big hollow outline, a picture whose Arabic name starts with that letter, and the word itself to color in. They come as one PDF with no sign-up and no email box, and they are made for the parent who does not read Arabic, so every word is spelled out in English letters too.
One file, 28 A4 pages, about half a megabyte. It prints on US Letter as well: choose “fit to page” in the print box. Print the whole set or only the letter you are on this week.

What is on each coloring page?
Three things to color, from top to bottom, and one line of help for you.
- The letter on its own, large and hollow, in the standalone shape a child learns first.
- A picture of something whose Arabic name starts with that letter: arnab, a rabbit, for alif, jamal, a camel, for jeem, samakah, a fish, for seen.
- The word itself in hollow outline, with its vowel marks, so the child can see the big letter again at the start of a real word.
- The word in English letters and its meaning, printed small under the picture. That line is for you. Read it out and you have said the Arabic word.
The letter’s name sits in the top corner of every sheet, with its number out of 28, so the pages go back in order after a busy week.
How do you use them if you cannot read Arabic yourself?
You do not need to read Arabic for any of this. A sheet takes ten minutes, and the talking matters more than the coloring.
- Say the word before the crayons come out. Read the English line, point at the picture and say it together a few times: arnab, rabbit.
- Color the big letter first. While they color, say its sound, not its name. Baa makes a “b”. The name comes later.
- Find the letter again in the word. Arabic is read right to left, so the first letter of the word is the one on the right. Ask your child to find it and color it a different color.
- Do one letter a day, or two a week. Twenty eight sheets is about a month of short sessions. Keep the finished ones on the fridge in order; a row of colored letters is its own reward.
If your child is learning to write the letters as well, the Arabic alphabet tracing worksheets pair well with these: color the sheet on Monday, trace the same letter on Tuesday.
Would you like a tutor to hear your child say the letters? In a free first class a tutor goes through the sounds with your child, listens for the ones that are hard to judge on your own, and tells you which letters to practise this week. You do not need to read Arabic yourself.

Questions parents ask
Are the coloring pages really free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no email and no payment. Print as many copies as you like for your own family, a weekend school or a classroom.
What age are they for?
Most children enjoy them from about three to seven. Younger ones color and listen; older ones can find the letter in the word and copy the word underneath.
Why are some pictures not the word I expected?
Each picture had to start with its letter in Arabic, and a few letters have no easy animal. So saad has a rocket (saarookh), sheen has the sun (shams) and haa has a crescent moon (hilaal). Every word was checked against a dictionary before it went on a sheet.
